Get to know… The Black & White Bridging Team
In the 9th in our new series of ‘meet the team’ blogs, we caught up with one of our latest team members, our Intern Lucas, to hear what life has been like for him so far at Black & White Bridging.
How long have you been at Black & White Bridging and what is your role?
I have been here for just over 2 weeks now. My role has been assisting the lending team and all other staff members from making tea to summarising documents and evaluating investment opportunities.
What has stood out so far since you joined the Black & White Bridging team?
The work environment is like no other I have been in, adopting a modern style in which there is a laid-back style of work however employees are still expected to reach a high level whilst maintaining quality. Everybody understands their role specializing in each area.
What has interested you so far about specialist finance?
I find the analysis side of it more interesting as I consider all the information available to determine if it is a worthwhile investment. This skill will hopefully be translatable in my future career in investment banking.
What made you decide to intern at Black & White Bridging?
I became aware of the fact that experience is a key part of being hired in any industry I’d like to go into. Knowing this I initiated contact with Commercial Director Damien Druce regarding a possible internship, as I knew he was in specialist finance. Luckily it went through, so here I am trying to make the most of this learning experience.
What is the best thing about your role, and why?
Being able to learn the industry earlier than most of my alum. It’s an incredibly beneficial experience as it puts me ahead of the crowd if we get identical degrees then I could potentially come out on top as I have time served in the finance industry.
What motivates you?
The idea of being financially free before I’m 40 then I can live however I want.
When not interning here, what do you do?
I’m a student first, then I have another job delivery driving for Dominos in the summer to subsidize my lifestyle.
Tell us something about you that we don’t know.
I happen to be a decent poker player with hundreds of hours spent studying/playing.
What 3 people dead or alive would you most like to have dinner with?
Napoleon Bonaparte
Roy Keane
Megan Fox from transformers
What do you think separates Black & White Bridging from other lenders?
Transparency of conditions. There are no special conditions to try and fleece the borrower out of extra money they are good competitive deals. Another thing I believe separates B&W from competitors is the customer service experience which is one of the best in the industry.
What are you most likely to be doing outside of working hours?
Playing golf or any sport for that matter
Seeing my friends usually in alcohol-rich environments
Poker
What are three things you can’t live without?
Food
Water
Golf
