Get to know… The Black & White Bridging Team

In the 5th in our new series of ‘meet the team’ blogs, we caught up with one of our newest team members, Danny Power, to hear more about his role and what life has been like for him so far at Black & White Bridging.

How long have you been at Black & White Bridging and what is your role?

I joined Black & White at the start of October. My role is to guide, support, and mentor the fine Business Development team we have here.

I am also tasked with growing the team in line with our natural growth as a company.

How did you first get into property lending?

That would go back to the early 1980s when I worked as a pension consultant for Barclays Bank. We would establish Executive Pensions and SIPPs which would then borrow funds to purchase property in the most tax-efficient way at the time.

What is the best thing about your role, and why?

I have worked with some of the best lenders in the bridging market, but B&W has offered me the chance to pass on some of the experience and sales techniques learned over a lengthy career to a sales team that is dedicated to giving great service to our professional introducers. It is also giving me the chance to, once again, work with some of the great broker contacts I have built up over the years.

What motivates you?

Completing a sale. As simple as that. My team all know the story of when I first started my career working for a motor insurer and I went to the front sales desk for the first time. I sold a motorcycle insurance policy to a lady for her Honda 50 bike. It cost £8.00 for the year. When she signed that form and paid the premium it was such a great feeling. I still get that every time I win a case and it completes even now, fifty years later.

If you weren’t a Director of Business Development at Black & White Bridging, what would you like to be?

That’s a difficult one. I think an auctioneer. I have auctioned many items over the years for charity and got a great buzz from it.

Tell us something about you that we don’t know.

I’m still a DJ and have been since I was fourteen so that’s fifty-two years. Still play Motown and Northern Soul.

What separates Black & White Bridging from other lenders?

I think the sheer determination at every level to work with introducers to find a way to get deals done, even in the current difficult market.

When you’re not at work, what are you most likely to be doing?

I love to listen to all kinds of music and try to get to as many concerts as I can. Also, I have been blessed with two beautiful grandchildren, and watching them grow is a delight. I would also make time for a decent real ale.

What are three things you cannot live without?

My family, Music, and Holidays.
